Hi I’m Gina and I share nature-infused inspiration, from art to travel. You can also check out my art portfolio on my website, where we can connect and collaborate.
Hello! The past couple of weeks have been pretty crazy in Hong Kong. First there was a typhoon and then a ton of flooding. We're all working to get back to normal, but it's been quite a ride.
Anyway, in addition to the wild weather, I've also been keeping busy with some exciting new art projects. I've been experimenting with making my own gouache and playing around with mixing colours. I'll share more about that process in a future post. In the meantime, I've also been continuing to work with oil pastels, which I love for their spontaneity and flexibility. I plan to offer some new designs as prints in my shop in the near future.
In this week's newsletter, I wanted to share some stylised photos of my studio. In real life, it’s a lot messier with brushes, paint tubes, and dirty water everywhere. But in these photos, I wanted to capture the aesthetic of what painting looks like. It's clean and crisp, with a sense of calm and order. I know this is a fantasy version of my studio, but I hope you enjoy the photos.
THINGS I’M LOVING
I just finished reading Jennette McCurdy's 'I'm Glad My Mom Died', and I have to say, it was both an enjoyable and challenging read. The memoir details McCurdy's journey as a child actor, and the intense pressure she faced from her mother. The book is not for everyone, but I found it to be a moving and insightful read.
I recently bought a book of Korean poetry translated into Chinese, but not because of the poems themselves - it was the paintings in the book that caught my eye. Even though I can't read Chinese, I loved the way the artworks complemented the poems. If you're in Hong Kong, you can find it at Eslite.
UPLIFTING PHOTO OF THE WEEK
Say hello to Nocciola and her tiny blep! This week's photo is guaranteed to make you smile. There's just something about a cat sticking out their tongue that's so silly and charming.
